All materials in the collection have been donated to or purchased by the Society. The collection is open to the general public. Materials are to be used in house but may be copied for a fee of a minimum of 20 cents/page. There is an extensive and growing collection of research materials in the form of books, letters, hardware ledgers, vertical flies, maps, microfilm, newspapers, periodicals and various publications of other historical societies.
The Society asks that visiting researchers register in the Society's guest book. Please add the name you are researching to the Family History Research File. If you will record your complete name, mailing and email addresses, and phone number (or as much information as you choose), others researching the same family name will be able to contact you to share information.
Dues for individual membership in the Society are $25.00 per year, payable in January. Family memberships are available for $35.00 for members at the same address. Members receive 11 issues of the monthly newsletter with a Journal section. Business ($50.00) and Lifetime ($250.00) memberships are also available. Reprints may be purchased for $5.00 each.
Meetings are held January through October on the 4th Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery Room on the campus of Jefferson Davis Community College. There is no meeting in November and the annual Christmas party is held early in December. You are invited to attend the meetings and become an active part of the membership of the Society. Visitors are welcome.
